Yan Skladman was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan . Soon after his birth his family moved to Lvov, Ukraine. There he was admitted to Kryshelnitskaja Musical Academy. In 1963, he successfully finished the academy with concentration in two instruments, piano and accordion. After the academy, Yan was admitted to the Lvov’s Conservatory where he studied until 1968.
During his study at the conservatory he began composing. After graduating from the conservatory he worked for many years in Asia as a music professor. Many of his students became winners of major national competitions.
In 1987, together with his wife, who is also a music professor, and daughter he immigrated to Chicago. For many years he has been performing in various cities like Las Vegas, Vienna (Austria), Rome (Italy) and many others. Yan has a perfect ear and compassion for writing and performing music. At present, Yan and his family reside in Chicago, USA. He is an active member of the National Association of Composers/USA (NACUSA)
